Chinook Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing precision medicines for kidney diseases. Chinook’s product candidates are being investigated in rare, severe chronic kidney disorders with opportunities for well-defined clinical pathways. Chinook’s lead program is atrasentan, a phase 3 endothelin receptor antagonist for the treatment of IgA nephropathy and other proteinuric glomerular diseases. BION-1301, an anti-APRIL monoclonal antibody is being evaluated in a phase 1b trial for IgA nephropathy. In addition, Chinook is advancing CHK-336, an oral small molecule LDHA inhibitor for the treatment of primary hyperoxaluria, as well as research programs for other rare, severe chronic kidney diseases.

 

Chinook is building its pipeline by leveraging insights in kidney single cell RNA sequencing, human-derived organoids, and new translational models, to discover and develop therapeutics with differentiating mechanisms of action against key kidney disease pathways. Position:

As a core member of Chinook’s cross-functional Global Product Teams, the Executive Director of New Product planning will lead the development of strong commercialization and communication strategies to guide successful market entry and long-term product performance for all pipeline products, including our most advanced clinical program atrasentan which is currently in Phase 3 development for the treatment of IgA Nephropathy.  This position offers a candidate the opportunity to significantly contribute to the long-term commercial success of Chinook’s portfolio.  The individual will be responsible for leading market development for late-stage products, commercial assessments for early stage programs, and will include market research activities, competitive assessments, payer assessments and product positioning.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop the commercial strategies for all early and late-stage development programs across Chinook’s portfolio
  • Provide commercial leadership on Global Product Teams
  • Drive market research activities to develop market insights and obtain a clear understanding of market size and market dynamics including market environment, patient segmentation, competitors’ strategy and customer needs needed to support development and commercialization decisions
  • Lead the development of target product profiles with internal cross-functional teams to determine product positioning
  • Work collaboratively with the cross functional team to provide commercial input into publication planning, conference planning, and KOL engagement
  • Lead the development of commercial forecasts for internal pipeline programs
  • Monitor overall market dynamics and competitive intelligence in target indications
  • Understand and communicate requirements for registration, reimbursement, and differentiation required for the successful commercialization of new products globally
  • Work closely with Leadership and Finance to ensure appropriate resources and organizational alignment are available to capitalize on short-term and long-term business opportunities


Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA, PhD, etc.)
  • Previous Brand Planning on a global scale within the pharmaceutical industry is required
  • Basic understanding of key market research principles
  • Experience with and / or understanding of the relationship between clinical trial design, label development, and promotional messaging
  • Management and/or team leadership experience
  • Previous experience in a commercial assessment role that required comprehensive understanding of therapeutic markets from multiple customer perspectives (e.g., HCP, Payers, Patients) and/or different business perspectives (e.g., clinical, R&D, marketing)
  • Understanding of market forecasts and commercial models
  • Experience in nephrology or rare disease preferred (but not required)
