Chinook Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing precision medicines for kidney diseases. Position:

 

The Contracts Administrator/Paralegal position (located in Seattle, WA) will work as a member of the Legal Department, reporting to the Associate General Counsel, and serve as a liaison between the Legal team and various departments at Chinook in the review, prioritization, and oversight of the contracting process to ensure prompt completion of the contract cycle. The Contracts Administrator/Paralegal must efficiently manage a large volume and variety of contracts, coordinating numerous agreements simultaneously while identifying issues for Legal support, where appropriate.  This position has high visibility across the organization and requires pro-active, positive, and professional approach.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Handle the processing, organization, and maintenance of all company contracts in Chinook’s Contract Management System.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure approvals and contract requirements are met.
  • Assist in final closeout of contracts using appropriate signature methods.
  • Attend meetings/calls for internal discussion on contract matters to answer questions and resolve issues.
  • Generate periodic and ad hoc reports, as required.
  • Assist in publishing/posting documents related to the development and implementation of corporate policies and templates.
  • Provide administrative support for documents and activities related to corporate activities such as licensing, partnering, acquisitions, or dispositions of assets.
  • Maintain corporate entity documentation and registrations.
  • Use an array of business software applications (e.g., Word, OneDrive, PowerPoint, SharePoint, DocuSign, Adobe and the company’s Contract Management system - Cobblestone).


Education, Experience, and Skills:

 

  • Hands-on experience reviewing, managing, and processing a variety of contracts; preferably in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • 5+ years experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Self-motivated individual who has the adaptability to work effectively as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with good time-management skills, be detail oriented, manage multiple contracts, and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and procedures as they relate to contracts.
  • Prior experience reviewing and redlining contracts, a strong plus.
  • High level of responsiveness and exceptional customer service.
  • Effective and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Notary public license, a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
  • Certificate from ABA approved paralegal program, a strong plus.
